Corona mesures showroom
How do we ensure the safety of our customers and staff in our showrooms?
Like other retailers, we follow the advice of the government.
The following measures are in force:
- As of Monday 07/03/2022, it is no longer legally required to wear a face mask in shops in Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels. Of course, you are free to continue to wear a face mask in our showrooms.
- Always keep 1.5 metres distance from each other.
Regulations about the low-emission zone in Antwerp, Ghent and Brussels
Since February 1, 2017, Antwerp introduced the first low-emission zone (LEZ) in Flanders. In the meantime, Brussels has followed this example and as of the beginning of 2020, Ghent will also have its own LEZ.
Last week we opened our reconditioning center on the Boomsesteenweg in Wilrijk. Here we check and recondition used cars that you can then find in our showrooms. Reconditioning cars and letting them run longer has advantages for both the environment and your wallet. Because no new car has to be produced, scarce resources and CO2 emissions are saved. In addition, a reconditioned car is cheaper than a new car. Thus, everyone wins when buying a reconditioned car.
Traveling with the Aiways U5 ... a piece of cake
Two months ago, after 17.5 years in consumer electronics, I decided to quit my job and embark on a new adventure. Electric driving has always been a big interest and when the opportunity arose to introduce the Aiways brand in Belgium, it was a step I had to take. As a true early adopter, electric cars have always been high on my list as a potential new professional challenge.
Spring cleaning: would you choose the carwash or hand wash?
Are you familiar with this? Temperatures are reaching an all-time high and the sun is beaming onto your car...which is still under the dirt from last winter. Time to drive past the carwash, or not?!
A quick drive through the carwash
If you have a dirty car, the carwash seems like a good way to get it clean again. However, there are a few drawbacks to the carwash. Carwashes often use aggressive products that damage the protective layer of your paintwork.
Get rid of fogged-up windows!
You get into your car and two minutes after departure your windscreen is completely fogged up and you can no longer see a thing. Extremely dangerous! Fortunately, condensation on your windows can be quickly resolved, and we're happy to give you some tips.
If you want to prevent your windows from fogging up, you can treat your windows with an anti-condensation agent or with a cloth dipped in washing-up liquid. Putting a dehumidifier in your car also helps to avoid fogged-up windows.
What does WLTP mean for you?
Since 2017, every car model being brought to market has to be inspected according to the WLTP. The WLTP is a practical measurement to determine a car’s fuel usage and has replaced the NEDC’s lab measurement. But what does this mean for you?
Cardoen renews its tv commercials
In mid-January, Cardoen launched a new, fresh tv commercial. After years of CEO Ivo Willems walking around the showrooms, we thought it was time to give our tv commercials a new twist.
Production house Kapitein Rein and director Vincent Groos came up with some funny wordplay for the Car Show. Our CEO moved from the showroom to the living room, and for the first time in the history of Cardoen, we also collaborated with a few actors for the ads.
Alert on the road
A long or very repetitive trip to your work or parents can cause you to start daydreaming behind the wheel. This can have grave consequences: your reaction time increases, you wrongly judge traffic situations and you start making wrong decisions. It is in your best interest to stay aware behind the wheel. Thanks to our five tips, you’ll always stay alert on the road from now on.
Lower the heating, open a window
It is, certainly in wintertime, tempting to turn the heat all the way up and to enjoy the pleasant temperature.
Driving safely on icy roads
The winter has officially begun, and that means that we have to prepare ourselves for cold days and icy roads. We’re happy to share some tips so you can stay safe on a slippery road.
- Adjust your speed so that you can better anticipate what is happening around you. Secondly, your braking distance is a lot greater on an icy road compared to a dry one.

Which car suits me best?
The choice of motorization used to be easy: if you drove a lot of miles, you would go for an economical diesel. Everybody else bought a cheaper gasoline car. However, things haven't gotten any simpler over the years. New technologies such as the electric power engine, the hybrid engine and the plug-in hybrid have made the choices even more difficult than ever. Are you wondering which motorization is most suitable for you? We would like to clear up a few aspects for you.

Mobility Week: Sustainable Mobility
Mobility Week is on its way again and it’s a great opportunity to take a closer look at your own mobility.
During the lockdown we already noticed it: that by walking and pedaling you can also move forward. There are however, many other ways to get from A to B, all while also contributing to reduce your impact on the environment.
When we think about alternative mobility, the bicycle is the first means of transport that pops into our mind.
This is the best way to be prepared in case of an accident
Of course, you'd rather not cause an accident, but sometimes it doesn't turn out the way you hoped. With a bit of preparation however, it shouldn't turn into a disaster. With the help of the following four measures, you can already be a little more at ease behind the wheel.
If you want to drive your car on the road, you are legally obliged to purchase at least a civil liability insurance. This insurance covers the damage you cause to third parties with your car. Damage to your own car is not included.
Avoid fines during your travels
Summer is still in full swing and an opportunity for a trip abroad cannot be missed. We all understand that when at our destination, we must comply with the local traffic rules. However, these following rules can also hurt your wallet quite a bit!
Slip-free in France and Spain
Do you live in your slippers during your journey south? Well, throw a pair of sneakers in the trunk anyway. Anyone caught wearing slippers while driving in France or Spain will be heavily fined. The police will also be happy to charge you for wearing earphones in the car.
Five tips on how to get the most out of your aircon
Now that summer is in full swing and temperatures are rising above the twenty, your car looks more like a sauna than a limo. Thankfully, most cars are equipped with an air conditioner that allows the heat to fade quickly out of your car. We have collected some tips on how to get the best use out of your aircon.
Open the windows first
Did your car stand in the sun all day? If so, open the windows first so that the hot air can escape. After a minute or two your car will be well ventilated and you will be able to turn on the aircon.
Planning a car trip to France, Italy or Spain? Don't forget to take these!

Summer is here and we are allowed to make trips locally and abroad again. It may be an ideal time to take a day trip or a car trip with your dog. Before you leave, it is best to read our tips on how to keep humans and animals safe when travelling by car.
Safety on the road
Taking your dog unharnessed in your car can be life-threatening. When you have to brake or turn abruptly, your pet can turn into a flying projectile. Not only can this be fatal for your dog, but it can also cause permanent damage to you and your car.
The impact of the corona measures on car traffic
As of Wednesday, March 18, more stringent measures have been implemented to slow down the spread of the coronavirus. One of the measures is that you can only use your car for essential transport. All this has far-reaching consequences for the use of your car. We have listed them for you.
1. Hygiene in the car
24/24 online shopping & reachable by phone
Our everyday life has been turned upside down: children no longer go to school and where possible people are working from home. Social contact is avoided as much as possible. We are obliged to slow down and look at things from a different angle. We at Cardoen also attach great importance to the health of our customers and our employees and we would also like to do our part to prevent the spread of the virus. Our 16 branches will therefore be closed until May 3rd, but Cardoen is committed to staying avaible for our customers in different ways:
